UV Water Filters

Many homes, particularly in the rural sectors, collect rainwater and/or stream water for use in their homes and dairy sheds. The quality of this water in terms of its mineral content is generally very good but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the quality of this water in terms of biological contamination.

With roof water, faecal matter is easily introduced through birds, possums and other animals depositing on the roof. This faecal matter contains pathogenic bacteria and these are classed at the laboratories as Faecal Coli-forms. Water containing the Faecal Coli-forms is totally unsuitable for human consumption.The same can be said for water collected from streams or rivers. However there is the added danger of run off from paddocks. In effect, river and stream water almost always contain Faecal Coli-forms at one time or another.
