By installing a multi media sand filter to the water supply you are essentially cleaning up the water at point of use. This will prevent a build up in the pipe-work and plumbing items. Generally particles in water become invisible at around 30 microns. PureZone Multi-Media Sand filtration removes sediment, dirt, grit and turbidly from water to approx. 15-20 microns. These filters contain several layers of different density media. The coarse media layers in the top of the tank trap large particles and successively smaller particles are trapped in the finer layers of media, deeper in the bed. The result is a highly efficient filtering, since removal takes place throughout the entire bed. The filtration media is maintained by regularly backwashing it to waste to remove trapped particles from the bed. Backwashing is a process where the flow of water is reversed through the media bed and as such flushing out the trapped sediment and sending it to waste. This maintains the media bed and with regular maintenance this bed should not need to be replaced for several years
